In Himmons' four yeras of high school basketball, he has a state championship, a perfect season record of 31 games. two retired jerseys, has been a high school all-american mention, and also was the first player from a charter school to go directly to a College Basketball Powerhouse like Mountain State University in tiny town of Beckley, West Virginia. With a great resume like that, you would probably think what more can this kid possibly do? Now he looks to be the first person to do many things. Dominic Himmons is now the first player out of the gilbert/chandler/mesa area to sign a professional basketball contract and also the youngest player in State history at 19yrs 2mo to sign professionally. Himmons combines incredible speed and quickness with a high level of intelligence and composure ... Winners mentality ... He really excels on the offensive end of the floor with his scoring ability ... Has an extra gear blowing by defenders with ease, and needs just an inch of daylight to get his jump shot off ... Excellent body strength for his age ... He understands how to create shots for himself... Very strong offensively, great form on his shot ... Plays with a high level of intensity .Great defender, team player and has great leadership ability. AS A ROOKIE...... Himmons averaged 10pts, 4ast, 1stl and earned his role as the starting point guard for the Georgia Gwizzlies of the American Basketball Association and was arguably one of the team's best player and leader on and off the court. In the spring of 2008, Dominic Himmons attended the WBA Draft camp, was invited to tryout for the Charlotte Bobcats, and had an offer to play in Austria for $250,000. Being a former teammate of Jerryd Bayless(Portland Trailblazers) on the Arizona Magic was not a downfall for Dominic Himmons but more of an advantage for him. "He is a fierce competitor and leaves it all on the court" Both Dominic Himmons and Jerryd Bayless were both in the spotlight together one year as many high school fans across the state of Arizona argued who was the better point guard? The better player? The better scorer?...... The list keeps going. Both Himmons and Bayless are good friends but both agreed when it comes to game time, they are the biggest enemies.
