       While spending hours a day trying to elevate his game to the next level, Dominic Himmons also spends his time helping out as much as he can in the community from speaking at different schools teaching youth that they can be whatever they want to be by setting the bar as high as they can to get the best out of themselves. Himmons also spends his thanksgivings helping out at the rescue centers passing out food and blankets to those in need.

    .....which he commanded our forefathers to teach their children, so the next generation would know them, even the children yet to be born, and they in turn would tell their children. Then they would put their trust in God and would not forget his deeds but would keep his commands. (Psalms 78:5-6)

    Today's family's need as much support as possible. Fathers especially need our support because they are so important to children during their early years. Every study that I have ever read clearly indicates that families are much stronger when there is a father present or at least very involved in the lives of the children. I certainly remember my early days growing up with my father present. He was a working man but a role model for me. He provided so much more to our family than his salary. My father was our protector. He was our security. He was our guardian and our example of strength. He was a great supporter for our academic, athletic, spiritual, and social activities. When I reflect back on my time with my father, I know that every child needs to have their own father actively participating in their lives.

   That is why I started the Dominic Himmons Foundation. It is my belief that through a non-profit charity, I can assist the families of different communities from the east valley region of Arizona, Middle Ga, to Tennessee. But I also know that I cannot do it alone. I need your help to raise awareness and money to assist fathers and strengthen families. Another reason I started this Foundation because I really felt the need to try to help people. As a professional athlete, you are in a position and given the opportunity to really have an impact on more than just your immediate surroundings. For me to be able to do that is something that’s sometimes challenging, but always worthwhile. Everyday, all of us - together and as individuals - have an opportunity as citizens to contribute to the vision of what we want to see in the world. And how best to do that but through children. We know that kids run the world; we know that they will grow and walk and run the world. They need from us now the tools to help them grow. They need from us now those things that will position them to think for themselves and become their own guiding forces that will shape our communities, locally and globally, down the road. What we are trying to do with this Foundation is to actuate our collective hope by helping to grow health in them.
